For “Cologne Indélébile” picture an orchard of fully bloomed orange trees transplanted in the humid atmosphere of an Ecuadorean jungle. Dominique Ropion utilises four different types of white musks to give a steamy effect to the floral-citrus blend and prolonge the longevity of the fragrance. Waxy, blanched petals capturing the heady orange sweetness, unfurling gently in the lascivious dampness of a tropical climate: unexpected, sensuous and more than just a simple, no fuss cologne. It has the element of surprise and that ineffable, transportive quality that all good fragrances possess: of taking you to another place and time, without having to board a train or a plane.

And besides it’s a compulsive wrist sniffer: it smells so naturalistic, so luminous and at the same sultry, like bathing in orange blossom water, surrounded by huge lemon trees inside a sauna.

And yes, it does last a long time, remaining fresh and clean throughout, but not without an intriguing, very modern sensuality given by the ambiguous nature of the various synthetic musks employed here: part metallic and part warm, salty skin.
